Our School in India
Providing on-campus elementary and secondary education for orphaned and vulnerable children
In 2024, Sanctuary Ministries began an elementary school on our orphanage campus. The school serves children from surrounding villages in Andhra Pradesh, in southeastern India. What started as a small step of faith has grown into a full on-campus school serving more than 100 children. Today, as we expand to include both elementary and secondary education. We are invite you to partner with us to help sustain this vital work.
Nearly two years ago, when the school began, there was no dedicated school building. Classes were held on the ground floor of the girls’ dormitory—the only space available. Even in those modest conditions, the impact was immediate. Children who had previously attended under-resourced public schools—or had little consistent education at all—were now learning in a stable environment with caring teachers and English-language instruction.
Last year, 75 children attended the elementary school. Today, with over 105 children in our care and a new school building under construction, we are expanding to include secondary education through 10th grade, allowing all of our children to attend school on campus.
While the school building itself has been provided through a generous gift, the ongoing work of educating children requires faithful, ongoing help from those who believe in this work. Teachers’ salaries, school supplies, utilities, maintenance, and daily operations are ongoing needs as the school grows.
To fully fund the school, we anticipate needing approximately $100,000 per year. This responsibility is not meant to be carried by a few alone. When many people partner together, the need becomes manageable—for example, about 165 individuals giving $50 per month, or around 80 supporters giving $100 per month, would fully sustain the school.
In the United States, the annual cost to educate a single child often exceeds $15,000 per year. In India, while costs are significantly lower, the impact of providing quality education is life-changing. Because of this, the resources God provides through those who partner with us are able to go much farther.
