Hope Village: Teaching Children in the Slums
Children in the slums are not able to attend school for a variety of reasons: Sometimes society does not allow it, sometimes they live too far away to walk or ride a bicycle, and parents can not afford to send them to private school. Sanctuary Home has provided two teachers in this large slum between Tenali and Vijayawada. This particular slum area is one we have "adopted," and we have given it a new name: "Hope Village." The teachers are able to effectively serve about 75 school age children. In addition to this important mission, Sanctuary Home would also like to provide a daily meal for the children we teach. As is often the case, many of these children would otherwise go hungry. Satisfying the hunger of the children also helps the learning process. Feeding the children of this slum area is a project we are working on right now, but we need your help!
